How can I teach cryptocurrency in GCSE Computer Science without going off-spec?

Teach cryptocurrency as a context for core GCSE topics (networks, security, data, ethics) by using peer-to-peer messaging, hashing, scams and privacy as examples rather than teaching coins, trading or price charts.
