Teach KS3 data visualisation by having pupils collect simple survey data, clean it, choose and justify a chart type then evaluate whether the visualisation is fair or misleading.
The KS3-ready sequence
Collect real data: run a short class survey (travel to school, sleep, screen time)
Check the question: clarity, honesty, sample size, missing options
Spot the problems: missing values, impossible entries, inconsistent labels, outliers
Clean the dataset: agree rules (fix, remove, group, check)
Choose a graph on purpose: what do you want the audience to notice?
